These terms specify the roles and responsibilities between a buyer and a seller in an international trade transaction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lack of misunderstanding or disputes is impeded as it clearly explains who shall bear the responsibility while shipping a merchandise either through transport, insurance, or customs clearance of the goods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Incoterms are Revised every 10 years, The latest revision for Incoterms was 1 January 2020.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are 11 Incoterms, which are further divided into two categories:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:26px\">For Any Mode of Transport<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>EXW (Ex Works)<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Seller\u2019s Responsibility<\/strong>: Makes goods available at their premises (factory, warehouse, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Buyer\u2019s Responsibility<\/strong>: Takes care of all costs and risks involved in transporting the goods from the seller\u2019s location to the final destination.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>FCA (Free Carrier)<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Seller\u2019s Responsibility<\/strong>: Delivers the goods to a carrier or another person nominated by the buyer at the seller\u2019s premises or another named place.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Buyer\u2019s Responsibility<\/strong>: Takes over from the point of delivery, handling all subsequent transportation and costs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>CPT (Carriage Paid To)<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Seller\u2019s Responsibility<\/strong>: Pays for the carriage of the goods to the named place of destination.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Buyer\u2019s Responsibility<\/strong>: Assumes risk once the goods are handed over to the first carrier.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>CIP (Carriage and Insurance Paid To)<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Seller\u2019s Responsibility<\/strong>: Pays for carriage and insurance to the named place of destination.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Buyer\u2019s Responsibility<\/strong>: Assumes risk once the goods are handed over to the first carrier, but benefits from insurance coverage arranged by the seller.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>DAP (Delivered at Place)<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Seller\u2019s Responsibility<\/strong>: Delivers the goods to a named place, ready for unloading.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Buyer\u2019s Responsibility<\/strong>: Takes care of unloading and any further transportation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>DPU (Delivered at Place Unloaded)<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Seller\u2019s Responsibility<\/strong>: Delivers and unloads the goods at the named place.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Buyer\u2019s Responsibility<\/strong>: Takes over from the point of unloading.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>DDP (Delivered Duty Paid)<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Seller\u2019s Responsibility<\/strong>: Delivers the goods to the named place, paying all costs including duties, taxes, and customs clearance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Buyer\u2019s Responsibility<\/strong>: Simply receives the goods at the named place.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:26px\">For Sea and Inland Waterway Transport<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>FAS (Free Alongside Ship)<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Seller\u2019s Responsibility<\/strong>: Places the goods alongside the vessel at the named port of shipment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Buyer\u2019s Responsibility<\/strong>: Takes care of loading, transportation, and all subsequent costs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>FOB (Free on Board)<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Seller\u2019s Responsibility<\/strong>: Loads the goods on board the vessel at the named port of shipment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Buyer\u2019s Responsibility<\/strong>: Takes over from the point the goods are on board, handling all subsequent costs and risks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>CFR (Cost and Freight)<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Seller\u2019s Responsibility<\/strong>: Pays for the cost and freight to bring the goods to the named port of destination.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Buyer\u2019s Responsibility<\/strong>: Assumes risk once the goods are on board the vessel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight)<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Seller\u2019s Responsibility<\/strong>: Pays for cost, insurance, and freight to bring the goods to the named port of
